My name is Erica, and I am the seamstress behind Lina and Vi (pronounced L-eena and V-eye). Lina and Vi was established in 2013 as a way to produce and sell self-made, handcrafted sewn goods using repurposed burlap. The Lina and Vi name originates from the abbreviated names of my two Italian grandmothers, both of whom represented to me creativity, drive, determination, resourcefulness, hard work, and maybe a little bit of that Italian fire and persistence.
I started working with burlap when my trip to the local coffee shop for a cup of joe brought home a 150 pound burlap coffee bean sack along for the ride. After a few cuts and sketches, I created a small tote bag using the burlap from the coffee sack and my desire to create took hold from there.
The collection has evolved to include a variety of burlap zipper pouches, clutches, and cross-body bags, as well as natural, farmhouse style burlap home decor items. You can shop our handmade designs online in our Etsy shop or locally at Birch Wood Boutique in downtown Plymouth, Michigan, RoosRoast in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Bundled Michigan.
I am a Michigan native and a graduate of both the University of Detroit Mercy and University of Michigan Dearborn. I enjoy living and working in the metro Detroit area.
