Welcome the Santa Barbara Burlap Bag!

We have a brand new burlap bag in the Lina and Vi shop this week that I'm so proud to share - the Santa Barbara burlap bag! This medium sized tote is another burlap bag formed from a beautiful repurposed Pergamino coffee sack. The burlap is lighter and a bit rougher, so it's a perfect casual summer bag.

The Santa Barbara bag took me the larger part of the last week to create, and I'm thrilled with how it turned out. I knew I wanted to do something different with this bag, so I opted for a flap top with a handmade faux button and a magnetic metal snap clasp. It's a small change from the usual open top tote design and a choice that makes it both more unique and practical. The button on this bag is handmade by my husband using Peruvian walnut, so there is extra time spent on this burlap tote to make it one of a kind. Only handmade items like our Santa Barbara bag and our other burlap products offer that personal touch and story that cannot be found in mass manufactured goods.

Similar to our Pergamino tote bag, I designed this bag to be all about the exterior burlap print. The accent colors used in the authentic print are vibrant against the light tan burlap, and the Santa Barbara text is a bold black which is the main focus on the backside. The bottom of this burlap bag is a chocolate brown faux leather with a cream top-stitching detail, which matches the light and dark contrast going on with the burlap sack print.

Inside the bag is one slide pocket in a soft, solid cream colored fabric, a specific choice I made to keep from having a lining fabric that overpowered the beautiful printed burlap. I wanted this bag to be all about the burlap. It's truly a statement bag!
