Welcome and hello!

Today marks the first post for the Lina and Vi blog, and I am so excited to begin sharing more about sewing! Lina and Vi is a company created to sell various handmade, fabric-sewn products. Currently, there is one collection called Grounds, which are functional bags, totes, and pouches made from re-purposed coffee bean burlap bags purchased at a local coffee shop. I plan to share more with you about the design and materials involved in these products in the weeks to come!

As I get started with this new adventure, I'd like to share a little bit about me. My name is Erica, and sewing has been a hobby of mine ever since I learned some of the most basic techniques in my high-school sewing courses. For me, sewing is both a calming and challenging experience, which is likely why I have continued to sew through the past ten years. It offers not only time to focus on a single task, but also the feeling of accomplishment of creating something from scratch and enduring the mistakes to get there. I find that sewing triggers problem-solving, patience, and planning. Although I am not an expert seamstress (or planner for that matter), I find sewing rewarding for teaching me valuable lessons in learning to design and assemble intricate pieces and processes into a final product. Sewing does not require any fancy lessons - only commitment to learn.

Feel free to say hello via email, the Lina and Vi Facebook page, or comments. I'm looking forward to sharing more with you!
